Overall, however, I like the new format. I like the idea of creating a literal timeline. For me, I can add screenshots of old sites based on the times I finished projects. It will show an evolution of my style and also show people the kind of work I have done as it has followed its natural progression.

I just wish I could have my old default landing page back…

This post describes the changes, stating that default landing tabs for Facebook are going away. It will require new creativity to put an emphasis on custom iFrame tabs and point users towards them so they can see the custom content you have created.

I am upset about these changes, especially the loss of custom landing pages for Facebook. I’m also mad that Facebook keeps changing things so rapidly. This kills several of my business ideas!

But I’m also excited about the new format, and I look forward to seeing how to adapt to and use it for marketing.

This video shows how to add a post to the navigation menu in the Elegant Themes WordPress eStore theme using the custom link feature.

This video shows you how to add the text that goes below the links in the navigation bar for the eStore WordPress theme by Elegant Themes. There are two navigation bars at the top of the page for this WordPress ecommerce theme, and we edit the lower nav bar that contains some subtext below the main links. We also look at WordPress menus and some related advanced functions.

This video shows you how to edit the single post layout in the eStore theme. Let’s say you don’t want the date and category to show up in the product post, only the title. You can do this by opening the editor in “appearances” and removing some code. You can also turn these items on and off in the ePanel. I show you how to do this in the video. The theme is eStore from Elegant Themes WordPress themes, and popular eCommerce WordPress theme.

This video demonstrates how to remove the Recent Works Section from the bottom of the home page in the Deep Focus theme by Elegant Themes WordPress themes. This requires accessing the “editor” tab in the “appearance” section and locating the code for this section on the home page. The code can then be edited or removed depending on your desires.

I love using Google web fonts. They are free, they are beautiful, and they are accessible to any browser and Internet user. This article talks a little about Google fonts and some of the other tools available to web designers:

I really enjoy working Elegant Themes WordPress themes because most of the newer themes have Google web fonts built in. But virtually any online project in which you style using Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) can utilize Google web fonts. A few of these fonts are available in Google Docs and Sites. They can easily be integrated into WordPress themes and beautifully integrated into WYSIWYG editors or admin pages in the WordPress backend. Lots of uses and ideas!

Search engines have more ways to index specialized kinds of data.

Like, say, a recipe.

I never thought about the fact that a recipe should be indexed in a very specialized way until a client, Calahaln Farm, told me about SEO (search engine optimization) of recipes via Google.

I searched the WordPress index and found an SEO plugin for recipes. It’s a cool idea. It puts recipes into a growing Google database and allows you to search based on ingredients, cooking instructions, or types of dish.

Videos are becoming a burgeoning way to create backlinks to your blog and improve your SEO. By creating them, embedding them places, and linking to other videos, you can increase traffic to your site.

I think these specialized forms of data are smaller relative to the large number of blog articles or pages, for instance. So they just get weighted more heavily when search engines like Google pay special attention to them. This makes for a good argument to put them on your website. I will post links to plugins that do this when I can.
